Together with Socially Responsible Businesses, we are restoring hope and beautifying San Jose. Spearheaded by San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo, the San Jose Gateways Project is a growing initiative giving corporations the chance to play a vital role in the lives of people who are homeless, while also contributing to making the City of San Jose safe, clean and beautiful.
To end homelessness, we need to work collaboratively and the Gateway Project make it simple for businesses to play this important role. Businesses sponsor a team of six Team Members (homeless and unemployed people) to pick up litter, remove graffiti and trash from a designated area located near their office. Not only does this ensure all angles of San Jose are inviting and litter-free, corporations are taking on a social responsibility to help others pull themselves out of homelessness by providing people with the tools and opportunities to rebuild job skills.
